Dry needling is performed by licensed Physical Therapists (PTs) who have completed post-graduate training in intramuscular stimulation. Unlike traditional acupuncture, dry needling targets myofascial trigger points using Western anatomical models and is typically used for musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries, and movement dysfunction. It is legal for PTs in most US states. Note: dry needling and traditional acupuncture are distinct practices.
